SPC News 2015
High Peak Trophy
Bramhall PS was host to this year's competition. Sixteen SPC members made their way to SK7 1LR to see SPC rising to the challenge to take the overall second place. SPC shared the winning position in the print section, with three images gaining maximum twenty points each. While we were not as successful with the DPIs, we came third, although a couple of our images each scored twenty points. The results were:
A very creditable turnout and a pleasing result; next year we will be going for gold!
October’s battle with Hyde PS
Our second battle of 2015 against Hyde PS was held at their comfortable venue in Bowling Green Street.
There were forty excellent images and the opposition from Hyde was strong, however the judge, Cy Newton, after comprehensively discussing each image, awarded the following overall points:
Our thanks go to Hyde PS for their hospitality and to Cy for sharing his knowledge.
Portland Basin Museum
On 1st June, instead of meeting at our usual venue, twenty club members gathered at Ashton-uner-Lyne's Portland Basin Museum. We had exclusive use of the building and as there were no members of the public to impede us, flash and tripods were very much the order of the day and an enjoyable two hours was spent photographing the many exhibits.
Thanks to Rachel and the staff for being on hand to answer our questions and provide us with nourishment.
Sheffield Digital Image Competition
On 14th March SPC was invited to participate in the 8th Sheffield Photographic Society Digital Image Knockout Competition. As this was the first time that we had entered the competition we were pleased with our result, equal ninth out of a the twenty–eight clubs competing.
Battle with Hyde
